Dreams become reality through hard work, effort, and consistency. “Keep showing up even when it’s hard” is exactly what Swati Kulkarni’s journey as a female content creator shows.
Swathi began her journey in content creation while still in school, creating videos and sharing them on social media. There was no guarantee of success, but she made them anyway. Over time, her content began to gain attention.
Her dream was always to become a business journalist, and she saw social media as a platform to pursue it. That’s when she began creating business-focused content, covering topics such as finance, marketing, and startups.
Swathi’s family has always been extremely supportive of her dream. When she told them about becoming a content creator, they encouraged her and offered valuable advice that would help her along the way.
Her father would suggest ideas for topics she could talk about, while her mother helped her with communication — especially how to present herself. Initially, her family would always watch her videos, provide honest feedback, and share them with others.
Very often, parents aren’t supportive of a career in content creation due to the perceived lack of stability. But Swathi’s parents believed in her and backed her decision, and she is truly grateful for that.
Selecting the right niche is crucial for effective content creation. For Swathi, it was creating content on topics related to business, but she needed an element that would make her stand apart from other business content creators. For her, it was Kannada. Swathi became popular by the name funda_hudugi.
In the beginning, she created content in English, but later realized that, being from Karnataka, she could use Kannada as well. That’s how she began integrating Kannada into her content. She combined Kannada with English and Hindi to reach a broader audience.
While creating content, she realized that many startups in North and South Karnataka were going unnoticed and rarely talked about. She decided to create content around these startups, and that’s when her content started receiving more engagement, and people began connecting with her work
Apart from writing scripts, shooting, and editing videos, consistency plays an important role — not just in content creation, but in any career path. Often, people struggle with consistency when they don’t see immediate results. Swathi says she struggled with it too. But she believes that if you want better reach and engagement, you need to stay consistent. That’s why she keeps showing up, even on the days when she doesn’t feel like it.
Swathi says that being stereotyped is one of the major challenges she faces as a female content creator. Many people believe that female creators get views because of how they look, rather than because they provide valuable content.
Although Swathi hasn’t personally faced this to a great extent, she knows several other female content creators who have faced similar situations. She believes this mindset needs more awareness and conversation.
In the digital era, she believes it is important for content creators to stay calm when issues arise. At the same time, like many women creators, she is concerned about the misuse of content online — a genuine fear and ongoing challenge.
Swathi feels that living in an era where technology is constantly evolving and AI is becoming our new reality, can be intimidating at times. She believes there are more content creators today, mainly due to two reasons: the increased popularity of social media and the growing use of AI.
With so much automation, it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between AI-generated and human-created content.
At present, Swathi uses AI only to a limited extent. While she plans to explore it further in the future, she remains unsure how audiences will respond to it and whether it will suit her content.
However, she isn’t afraid of becoming irrelevant. She is confident in the value of the content she provides. With new startups emerging every day, she believes there will always be meaningful stories to tell and useful content to create. For now, she prefers to balance technology with authenticity and see what the future holds.
For Swathi, the monetary benefit that comes with content creation is just a bonus. What truly matters to her is when people tell her how her content has actually helped them.
Whether it’s students saying her content was useful for their exams, or startups thanking her for giving them visibility, these moments mean the most to her. They are what keep her motivated to continue creating content that is useful and impactful.
Swathi says that women have been entrepreneurs for a long time now — even something as simple as making pickles and selling them makes you an entrepreneur. Women have immense potential, but they aren’t always recognized or encouraged enough to take the lead. Thankfully, with growing support from the government and private organizations, we can look forward to seeing many more women entrepreneurs step forward in the years to come. This is also how she sees herself in the future.
To those who have just started their journey in content creation, she says: enjoy the process and stay consistent — your dream is closer than you think.
And this was the story of Swathi Kulkarni. Her journey truly shows that hard work, resilience, and a never-give-up attitude are what lead to success. She is definitely an inspiration to many women out there — whether young or old, it’s never too late or too early to pursue your dreams. Believe in yourself, work hard, stay consistent, and see the magic it creates.
