This is the story of a woman from Andhra Pradesh who turned personal worry into a purpose – building a clean-label snacking brand. Yaminilaxmi Valiveti – a woman, entrepreneur and mother from Andhra Pradesh, India, who holds a firm resolve never to stop moving forward.
Yamin grew up in a family that believed “Work hard and stay honest; education will open every door.”
She took this to heart and graduated with an M.Tech in Embedded Systems as a Gold Medalist. Despite building a stable career in the IT industry, she felt restless and began working on her own business.
“Entrepreneurship has always been a part of my dream,” she says. Long before Yavi, she ran several small businesses, including gifting items, customised products, clothing, and artificial jewellery. Each business taught her about customers, trust, and what it takes to create something from the ground up.
The actual turning point came when she started paying closer attention to what people were eating.
Like most health-conscious consumers, Yamini started reading labels and the more she read, the more unsettled she felt. Refined sugar, Artificial flavours. Preservatives that were not required in a child’s snack. She began talking to other parents and found the same worry mirrored back to her. Everyone she connected with was looking for healthier options but struggling to find products they could trust.
Then came the moment when everything changed. She started hearing from parents that Yavi was their child’s very first chocolate experience, even before they turned two. Not a milestone you’d expect to carry so much weight. But for Yamini, it carried everything.
“I realised this was much bigger than a business,” she says.
That’s when her mission became clear: She wanted to help one lakh families make healthier food choices by the end of the year.
Yavi – the healthy snacking brand Yamini founded- wasn’t built on investor funding. But built with dedication, persistence, and a clear purpose, Yavi reflects Yamini’s belief that healthier products should be accessible, enjoyable, and trustworthy.
She and her husband run the business together. They manage product development, sourcing, operations, and customer engagement largely on their own. During high-demand periods, additional hands come in on an order basis.
Their growth story began the simplest way possible. People tasted the products, trusted them, and told someone else. Word-of-mouth referrals became Yavi’s most powerful marketing channel. Alongside that, they built a strong presence on Instagram, which gave their brand a voice. Sharing ingredient transparency, customer stories, and an honest perspective on healthy eating became their anchor.
It was a blend of trust and strategy!
Today, Yavi products reach customers not just in metro cities but across remote areas of India. They are helping places where access to cleaner, healthier snacking options has historically been limited.
When Yamini speaks about inspiration, she doesn’t name a business icon. She names her mother, who passed away.
“Her strength, resilience, hard work, and unconditional love continue to guide me every day,” Yamini says. “Every milestone I achieve is a tribute to the lessons she taught me.”
The foundation of Yavi is rooted in Andhra Pradesh – values of community, hospitality, and integrity. That is the reason why quality was never something she was willing to negotiate. Her team treats every customer interaction with genuine care.
For Yamini, Yavi is not just a food brand.
It is a proudly Indian brand built for Indians.
What started as a mission to create pure chocolates and healthier alternatives has grown into a larger vision – helping Indian families make healthier choices while bringing happiness to their everyday lives.
She believes that great brands are built on trust and that every product should reflect the responsibility that comes with serving families.
“Don’t wait to feel ready, you are ready when you get the idea. The confidence, the resources, and the path will appear once you start taking action. Start before you feel ready.”
Remember that India’s next wave of great brands is not going to come from funding rounds and fancy offices. It is coming from women like Yamini – who saw a problem, felt it personally, and decided to fix it!
